The Mahogany Mais Verde

Population and economic growth brings with it a growing need for natural resources, which are increasingly scarce. If nothing is done, products that were once accessible to everyone will no longer be available for generations to come. When it comes to the most coveted products with little availability on the market, the situation is even more worrying.
Mahogany falls into this group. It is a wood exclusive to tropical zones and widely sought after by wealthy people in European countries, from whose colonies it was extracted. In more recent times, Brazil has emerged as a major supplier of this type of wood — Swietenia sp. But, with the restrictions on traditional and eventually predatory extractivism, especially in the area of the Amazon biome, supply fell short of demand.
Currently, the preference for African species — Khaya sp — has increased, due to the fact that they produce more uniform trunks, in addition to not being so susceptible to attacks by borers, which damage the heart of the trees, impairing their use. Likewise, the extraction of these mahogany in Africa has generated insecurity in the market, due to its limitations and conditions of withdrawal.
In this environment of environmental commitment, Mais Verde was created 15 years ago. Initially, as a consulting and environmental management company and, later, with the planting of African Mahogany for a rational and renewable extractivism.
The plantation is located in Cachoeira Alta/GO, the sawmill and joinery are located in Caçu/Go, in the midwest region of Brazil, with commercial offices also in the cities of Rio Verde/GO/Brazil and Miami/FL/USA.
The company also has specialized technical advice and partnerships with universities.
The entire area of the farm is in the mold of environmental sustainability, always acting with the proper social responsibility that the project requires, focusing on these aspects of its mission.
Mais Verde defends a policy of partnership with other producers, who work with the same values, maintaining, among themselves, exchange of information for the management and support for the commercialization of their forests, aiming at the improvement, increment of the product and, mainly, the increased supply on the market.
